The Center for Research on Transplantation is located within Villa
Camozzi in Ranica, Bergamo, in a three story building connected
to the "Center for Rare Diseases Aldo e Cele Daccò", founded by
the Mario
Negri Pharmacological Institute.
The Center for Research on Transplantation,
managed in collaboration with the Mario
Negri Institute, will allow researches from all over the world
to work together on research projects.
The
staff of the Center for Research on Transplantation is comprised
of senior and junior researchers trained in the Mario Negri laboratories
focussing on transplant immunology, creating non toxic immunosuppressive
drugs and developing new gene therapy techniques to prevent acute
rejection in organ transplantation. As projects develop, other researches
will be invited to participate on selected projects or asked to
provide technical skills non present in the Institute.
It is estimated that the Center will support
60 researchers when fully operational. Researchers have access to
all the facilities within Villa Camozzi; the library, conference
center, housing, cafeteria.
ART raised the funds used to build the Center
for Research on Transplantation, inaugurated on July 2, 2002.
